Transforming Practices offers a rich formation in Pastoral Supervision. Because we believe that the ability to reflect is fundamental to good supervision, developing this skill is woven throughout our Supervisor Formation, alongside the customary supervision skills.
We offer our training to those who have at least five years’ experience in pastoral ministry, lay or ordained. Coming into training it is important to have had the experience of being in supervision so we expect applicants to have had 5 years of working with a supervisor. We are offering an experiential course not primarily an academic one. If you are seeking a Graduate Certificate whose emphasis is on theory and that may become part of a Diploma or Master’s, you may want to consider another training body.
Transforming Practices’ programme exceeds the requirements for accreditation with the Australian Association of Supervision (AAOS) and includes an opportunity to join the Community of Practice that is Transforming Practices when you have successfully completed your programme. Our Community of Practice offers ongoing learning and support through Facilitated Group Supervision and Professional Development through our membership.
Training to be a Pastoral Supervisor with Transforming Practices begins by participating in a Portfolio of Learning Day, followed by preparing your own Portfolio of Learning, reflecting on your journey to this point. The Portfolio of Learning is a unique feature of the Transforming Practices Supervisor Education programme, specifically designed to build on and develop the individual’s skills and experience. Those whose portfolios demonstrate reflective capacity may then take part in the training programme.
The next Portfolio of Learning Day will be held on 11th October2024, depending on sufficient applications, with portfolios to be submitted by 22nd November. All training days may be held on Zoom, face to face or in dual mode depending on successful applicants’ location.
An Introductory day for those proceeding after the Portfolio of Learning will be held on 7th February 2025.
Supervisor Formation comprises 5 two-day Modules, held over 7 months. ( Proposed dates, which might be subject to adjustment).
